All About Me

For my collage i was able to use 12 things that represent me very well because these are some of the things I love. I chose Netflix and then added a picture of the Vampire Diaries because this is something that I have been very caught up on. I have been watch the Vampire Diaries for over three months and just finished it and i plan on rewatching it again. The reason why it represents me is because i have grown onto it and I love the show and how it is. Then I chose Netflix because I am normally on Netflix watching shows or movies such as The Vampire Diaries. Legacies, and The Originals. This is why I chose those two picture for my collage that represent me very well.

Then I chose the America and Mexico symbol for the soccer teams that I go for. The reason why I chose these two symbols for my collage to visually represent me is because I personally love soccer. I love watching the games of my two favorite teams and I love to play soccer which I’ve been playing for over 20 years now. Soccer has been a big part of my life and I have grown into it and it came from being a hobby to a passion. Then I chose the America symbol because I have gone for this team since I was  new born my dad put this team on me and now I watch every game with him and it has made us grow a stronger bond. This is why I have chose the America and Mexico soccer symbol because I have grown a passion for soccer and love it very much.

Then some of the last things that I chose for my collage is food. The food that I chose is a raspado, hot cheetos, and tacos. The reason why I chose these is because I love tacos de carne asada or de carnitas. I always eat tacos with salsa verde or salsa roja with lemon which I love to eat. Then I chose the raspado because sometimes when I would go out on the weekends me and my family would go to Xtreme Raspados and we would go and buy stuff and I would always get that. Then I chose the hot Cheetos because normally three times a week I eat  a bowl with hot Cheetos lemon chamoy and a bit of salt because I love to eat hot Cheetos.

Episode 1. Top Photographer with Nigel Barker

In this show there are different contestants who are supposed to complete the task and do the best they possibly can even it might not be the work there used to doing they have to do there best. They have 30 minutes to capture a photo of there main focus and do the best to get the essence of the person. They each have to figure out a pose angles lighting and the way that they’ll shoot the picture in order to come out with the perfect picture to also focus on the personality of the main focus. As the challenges go they will eliminate one person and see which is the best picture and as they keep going the challenges will get even more difficult. David is a famous photographer for sports and music which means he takes photos of famous athletes or musicians and he is able to capture the right moment to take a beautiful photo. The main challenge for the contestants this episode was to capture the essence and to get to the core of the subject and have all these things in a photo. I feel like this show could be useful for beginners to see how professionals work and how sometimes you have a certain amount of time to take the perfect photo. This would also be useful to see how the judges judge the pictures and see what you should have in your photo and what you shouldn’t so others could learn and see how to capture a perfect photo. I feel as if being a photographer takes a lot of dedication because how you have to see every little thing for the photo for example the lighting the background the angles and much more.

Episode 1. Top Photographer with Nigel Barker

In the second episode they will be shooting for a famous designer and shooting for her campaign. They have to capture the idea of the clothes and capture a beautiful picture for the campaign but at the same time they have to take some risks. They are shooting these photos with the canon ds and they were each able to choose there model which inspired them the most from how they look and how there dress is. There main focus has to be the dress they have to bring out the dress as much as they can. They have to work with the dress, the model, and see how there hair and makeup will be which the last part is something they have to choose in order to take the perfect photo for the campaign. Then they had 30 minutes to take photos in a room and they were able to get creative and takes photos everywhere in the room. But the only struggle was that they had to see where the angles, the lighting, retouching the photo, editing, fixing lighting, and much more in a short period of time. I feel as if this task was more difficult considering that some of the contestants haven’t done this style of photography and how they had to bring out the dress with many things in the background. But overall its a better challenge so they could improve there photography and see what they have to do for these specific tasks. For example in order to bring out the dress they need to move things from the background so it wont take away the focus from the dress and they need to bring it out with lighting and angles as much as possible.

File Formats

JPEG: This is one of the well know files and its compressed quickly in the camera, and thus result in a loss of detail and quality they also store as much memory on the memory card as it can. The benefits is that it is a quicker file transfer times because of the smaller file size and one negative is that there’s less opportunity for image manipulation in photo editing software.

TIFF: This one is commonly used industry-standard file format and this file tends to take a lot of storage not only on your memory card but on your computer as well. One positive about it is that it has the ability to manipulate photos extensively in photo editing software and a negative is that it is a larger size which takes a lot of storage.

RAW: Raw is normally advanced compact cameras that are the best files for your cameras which is normally recommended by the professional photographers. One benefit from this is that it has an extensive options in post-processing and image manipulation but one negative is that the bigger file sizes means that there are more storage needed and longer post-processing times.

DNG: This format which was made by , created by Adobe which is a way to make a standard raw file format for the camera. One benefit from this file is that it has the ability to use the image processing software such as Lightroom and Photoshop then the negative is that it takes extra time to convert camera raw files to DNG.

PNG: This file was designed in the 90’s as a different and improved version of the GIF but the PNG are good for the internet which is used for it. One benefit from this file is that lossless compression means good image quality, which isn’t compromised when editing and one negative to it is that the quality will not be good enough for printing at any size.

GIF: The GIF is ideal for use on the internet and like a different file they allow for animation and are also have the ability to maintain transparency. One of the benefits is that it has a small file size that makes these ideal for use on the web and the negative is that it doesn’t support partial transparency like drop shadows.

BMP: This file was made by Microsoft and is another lossless file format that is a large file sizes as colour data is saved in each individual pixel in the image without any compression. One of the benefits from this is that it can be used for printing as images are saved in high quality format and one negative is that it is large files which means more storage is being taken.

PSD: This file is what Adobe Photoshop uses as a default to save data and this type of file allows for manipulation which is good. One benefit from this file is that once the image is ready it can be re-saved as any other file format and a negative from this is that the layered files can be incredibly large in size due all of the additional data stored.

Framing A Subject

AP: 1.7 ISO:20 S: 1/1012

I feel as if I have a good composition because I was able to take pictures of my main focuses and have enough lighting and the right amount of filter to make my pictures the way that I wanted to. I feel as if I edited my pictures good to match the aesthetic that I wanted to to be. For example I did 3 black and white pictures but one is darker then the two others to give more of a mood to the picture. Then the pictures with the eyes to be in black and white to match the mood that the eyes are giving which means to match the emotion the eyes are giving off. If I shot these types of pictures again I would figure out a way how to use the framing better and to show more emotion through the pictures. Then lastly I feel like my pictures are not that good to be better then the other students because I feel as if I didn’t do that good and maybe others did much better then me.

Into Space

My piece on surrealism which is hot air balloons in space.

The image that I chose and stood out to me was by Rene Magritte which is called “Not to Be Reproduced,1937”. This picture stood out to me because I found it ironic how the person is looking through the mirror and as its reflection it is showing the back of him. I feel like it is showing multiplicity considering how in the original picture it shows multiples backs in mirrors. It maybe trying to show the viewer multiplicity to give the idea of how there are many people that may not show how they truly are but can easily show how they turn there backs on you. But I find it ironic how they couldn’t just show there faces as if they were all staring at mirrors to demonstrate this which makes it more special and what made it stand out to me and this is why I chose it.

San Diego <3

This was my trip to San Diego I was able to see different things around. many things that I was able to see are beautiful views of the world and how everything looks in a different city. There were many beautiful places that inspired me and I was able to take different pictures of the city to not only remember how everything was but to improve my photography skills.

Camera Modes

Automatic Mode: This mode tells your camera to use the modes and to select shutter speed, aperture, ISO, white balance, focus and flash to take the best shot that it can. But with other cameras this mode lets you use more flash or lets you use the red eye reduction.

Portrait Mode: When you switch to this mode it will automatically change to a larger aperture which helps keep the background out of the focus which gives a blur affect. This helps you make sure that the background wont take away the focus from the main focus that you’re taking a picture of.

Macro Mode: This mode helps you to get close up to your subject to take a picture closer which this is great for taking picture of flowers or other plants. On other cameras this mode is a bit different because it sometimes has different capabilities including different focusing distances.

Landscape Mode: This mode is the complete opposite of portrait mode because instead the aperture is set very low to focus on everything. This mode is perfect for taking picture of larger scenes for explain a forest or a beach view.

Sports Mode: This mode is perfect for taking pictures of athletes playing since they are moving but it is also good for moving objects including people playing sports, pets, cars, wildlife etc. This helps you take the perfect photo without having a blur or a picture of someone moving this helps focus on the moment even if they are moving.

Night Mode: This mode is wonderful for playing with because of all the colors and beautiful photographs it can take. This mode is good for low light situations and sets your camera to use a longer shutter speed to help capture details of the background and it also illuminates the foreground.

Movie Mode: The movie mode extends your digital camera from just capturing still images to also capturing moving ones. There’s 8 different modes for example one is beach mode in which its a bright scene mode.

Aperture Priority Mode: This mode is more a of a mode in which you choose all the aperture, ISO, and shutter speed to give the perfect exposure. Which this means that you can learn all the things to have a good exposure and also means you can have a larger depth of fields.

Shutter Priority Mode: It is almost the same as aperture priority but the difference is it selects a shutter speed and the camera then chooses all of the other settings. This could be an easier mode for when you just need to change the shutter in order to capture the moving perfect moment.

Program Mode: Program is kind of the same as auto but the only difference is that it gives you a bit more of control over the features. Some of the feature that you are able to control better are flash, white balance, ISO etc.

Manual Mode: In this mode you have full control of your camera and the settings which means you change everything. for example in this mode you would need to change the shutter speed, ISO, aperture, flash, and verything needed to change.

One tip that you should follow when taking portrait photos is to never select all the focal points for the portraits. It is best to use only one of the focal points because it gives the photographer full control of what they are doing. The second tip that could help is shooting wide for a better shallow depth of field. This could help to make your pictures better and to have better quality and brightness but it is best to invest in a bigger lens so it can be fast and capable of wide aperture value. The third tip that could is using an existing reflector in order to reflect light to your picture. For example, most delivery trucks are white so you can reflect the light off of there in order to have a brighter picture and be able to have more light in it or the right amount of light. The fourth tip is to keep out powerlines, signs, or anything that could take away the focus on the main focus. This helps to show the viewer what the main focus of the photo could be and could focus on the main thing. The last tip which is the fifth is that on cloudy days it is good to go out and take some photos. The reason for this is that they create a huge blanket of natural lighting which helps to only have on type of lighting because of other days its normally different colors. These are a few tips that could help you in photography.

Lenses

There are many things to know about camera lenses but here are 20 things that I have learned about camera lenses. One thing that I have learned is that you can have zooms, primes, macro, super telephoto, and tilt-shift lenses. The second thing that I learned about lenses is that you can also have fisheyes which is a type of lens that gives a 180° field of view and telephoto lenses up to 800mm or more. The third thing that I learned is in order to find the perfect lens is to see what you would like to shoot. The fourth thing that I learned is that there are different lenses that you can use in order to take different pictures such as someone running or someone sitting. The fifth thing that I learned is that less expensive lenses normally have variable apertures which is the zoom and the maximum aperture gets smaller. The sixth thing that I learned is that the more expensive lenses have a fixed aperture which makes it easier. The seventh thing that I learned about lenses is that all major camera and lens manufacturers have a variety of focal lengths to satisfy you and help you take good photos. The eighth thing that I learned about lenses is that for photography for sports you rarely use anything shorter than 70-200 you often use 400mm lenses f/4 lenses. The ninth thing that I learned is that wide angles is good for taking long landscape pictures because it gives a wide expansive view. The tenth thing that I learned about lenses is that a good lens to use for landscape would be ranges from 14mm f/2.8, 16-35 f/2.8, and 24mm f/1.4. The next thing that I learned is that wide lenses should be used when prominent foreground objects are present because many people tend to use it incorrectly. The twelfth thing that I learned is that wide angles are also handy in tight areas, like small rooms, cars, caves, etc. because they tend to give volume into the area. The next thing that I learned is about standard lenses which tend to range from about 35mm up to around 85mm. The fourteenth thing that I learned is that standard lenses will cover moderate wide angles- typically 24mm to 35mm and also moderate telephoto lengths- around 70mm and up to about 105mm. The fifteenth thing that I learned is that standard lenses are good for when you have a bit of room to move around and find a good position to shoot. The next thing that learned is that standard zooms are normally included in many SLR kits that come with lenses. Another thing that I learned about lenses is that some of the popular lenses for standard modes are 18-55mm, 18-135mm, 24-105mm, 24-70mm, and others. The eighteenth thing that I learned is that is that prime lenses are lenses that are just one focal length. The next thing that I learned is that telephoto lenses compress distance which tends to make everything appear closer unlike wide angles which distort perspective and make things look further away. The last thing that I learned about camera lenses is that there are many different lenses that focus on different type of photos that you can take for example some lenses are good for landscape pictures and others are good for moving objects. These are 20 things that I found to be important and that I learned about different types of camera lenses.

Conceptual Self Portrait

The word conceptual is defined as something that is relating to or based on mental concepts but that is not what my understanding of the word conceptual is. The word conceptual has something to do with your mind which leads me to think that the word conceptual has something to do with the mental concepts that has to do with creativity or imagination. The reason why I feel like this has to do with conceptual is because you would have to have imagination in order to have mental concepts to have creativity for your photography. The concept of photography should be creative which you get mental concepts in order to make your photography fun and interesting for the viewers. In conclusion I feel as if the word conceptual means to me photography that has to be creative and imagination which are mental concepts that you get.

The conceptual idea that I am trying to give off to the viewer is my passion for soccer. In the first picture it is me with my feet around my soccer ball. Although the first picture maybe simple it is giving the concept that I play soccer and I obviously like it which is why I chose it to represent me. The reason why I also chose it is because I’ve been playing for 10 years nonstop and has always been something that motivates me to do better. In the first picture it is giving the viewer the understanding that I like to play soccer and that it is something that I enjoy doing. The conceptual idea behind this picture is to show the viewers that soccer is something big in my life and it has impacted my life in a positive matter.

Then in the second picture it is showing a bit more about myself which it is showing a soccer bag from my favorite team America and my feet with the ball again but then in the background it shows my second pair of cleats and a heart. This is giving the conceptual idea that soccer is more then just a hobby it is showing it is a passion something that I may be dedicated to. The concept behind the picture is to show the viewer that soccer is something that I love and its not something that I do as a hobby it is something that I see as a passion and I’m dedicated to. I put my all into soccer which is the reason on why I used soccer as something to represent who I am.

I chose this photo that was taken by Cindy Sherman because it seems as if all the clowns are hysterically laughing and then in the background there is one clown that is upset. Although i am not able to see the face clearly that’s what i got from this photo from the body language that it is sending through the photo. Which I find ironic because clowns are known as people who make everybody laugh and are always happy and hysterically laughing. But what I got from this picture is that nobody knows the truth behind clowns no one knows if deep down behind there act they’re sad, I read that Cindy Sherman said about her clown series that, “Clowns are sad, but they’re also psychotically, hysterically happy.” which i agree with because clowns are known to be sad but put up an act for others which may seem a bit psychotic. This is the reason why I chose this picture and this series because i found it ironic on how she demonstrated the emotions behind the clowns and how she photographed them.
